Sponsored Youth Programs

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is a week-long residential personal development program for young people aged 18 to 25, which focuses on yourself, leadership and community. In Rotary District 9800, RYLA aims to;
  • Give young people the chance to come together in a supportive environment to gain a better understanding of their own strengths and the unique qualities and abilities of others
  • Provide an opportunity for young people to develop a network of resources to facilitate their roles and development
  • Facilitate learning about teamwork, communication, motivation and to develop the leadership skills of young people through experiential workshops
  • Create a greater awareness of social issues affecting young people and
  • Demonstrate Rotary's commitment to young people.

The Rotary Youth Program of  Enrichment (RYPEN) is a Rotary sponsored program for year ten and eleven students. Students attend a weekend long camp designed at developing their potential through a mixture of lecture style sessions and adventure-based learning. Its aim is to communicate to young people a series of ideas, problems and social experiences which will assist them in forming their own values and moral standards

Rotary Adventures in Citizenship is an intense program structured to stimulate the young delegates (many of whom will no doubt be future leaders in the community) to think about Australia as a whole. Delegates will learn about Australia's political culture, economy, legal and parliamentary system and contemporary issues that will affect their future.

At the end of the program the delegates should have an increased awareness of their responsibilities as citizens, the values and privileges of being an Australian, and the role of Canberra as our national capital.

National Youth Science Forum (NYSF). Students during year 11 are selected to attend the NYSF the following year. They learn how to make informed decisions about courses and careers in the sciences and gain a professional skill set to help them realise their potential.

Since 1985 Rotary has led the battle against polio, and kept the pressure on as worldwide cases plummeted from 350,000 per year to several hundred. Now, Rotary and its partners are This Close to making that dream a reality.

These projects provide emergency survival needs for those affected by disasters.

   Rotary Youth Exchange and Friendship Exchange
We participate in these projects as the opportunities arise and help promote and exchange Rotary ideals, ideas and fellowship.
